The Machine

I said,”Mister Employer won’t you give me some work.
You know I’ve got to make a bob.”
He said,”Sorry, Sonny, we’ve got computers now.
They do all the jobs.”

I said to my brother, “Can you give me a hand
I’ve got a problem here.”
He said,”Wait far a while till the TV is through.
Just let me finish my beer.”

You don’t need me
Just the Machine.
You think it’s got it all.
People don’t count
What can they do?
The Machine’s got it all.

I said to my buddy, "I got nothin’ to do.
Let’s go play some ball.”
He said,”Hey, ain’t you heard, there’s a new machine
In the amusement hall.”

I said to my girlfriend, “Hey, let’s take a walk.
I got something to say.”
She said, “Let’s take the car and the radio.
We can listen on the way.”

You don’t need me
Just the Machine.
You think it’s got it all.
People don’t count
What can they do?
The Machine’s got it all.
