Youth In Verse All Of My Life Picture

All Of My Life

Took a bus to the corner store.
Asked the man what I did it for.
All he said was I’d been there before,
But he told me to come back some more.

Took a walk to the school house.
Sat there, quiet as a mouse.
Teacher told us what it’s all about,
But, you know, me, I had my doubts.

All of my life
People just tell me lies –
Feeding me rubbish
In a golden disguise.

Spent my life trying to get somewhere.
Worked all day to earn a bigger share.
When it seemed at last that I was there
I realised I really didn’t care.

Bought a house at the back of town.
Lawyer said the investment was sound.
Government came and pulled it down
Said that’s where the highway came around.

All of my life
People just tell me lies –
Feeding me rubbish
In a golden disguise.

Bought myself a real flash car.
Thought that it would make me look a star.
Thought I’d celebrate at the local bar.
Stacked the thing before I got that far.

Took my girl to the picture show.
Said to her that I loved her so.
She said she didn’t want to know
And then she told me where to go.
