Youth In Verse Impatience Picture

Impatience

I often wished that I was old,
Just like I waited for the end of winter’s cold.
But like the days of summer’s heat
I find I’m left now, weary and so weak.
And now that my hair is thin and grey
It makes me wonder why I sought this day.

Oh, impatience and discontent!
Those days have gone now. My youth is spent!

It was so hard then, when things would move so slow.
I wanted everything. But how was I to know
That Hope’s the treasure I held but then let go.
Back then I had it all, but how was I to know?

Oh, impatience and discontent!
Those days have gone now. My youth is spent!

But don’t start thinking this is a story of regret.
The passing years have taught me much I won’t forget.
The greatest hope is still beyond this life’s sunset –
That day will bring a greater joy than I’ve known yet.

Oh, impatience and discontent!
They are my friends now till life is spent!
